To the Prospective Employers of Nick Alioto

A couple of weeks ago, it was brought to my attention that a certain Vice-President of Business and Finance at Southwestern College is really quite upset that some blogs have said relatively mean-spirited things about him.

By some blogs, I mean mine. By mean-spirited, I mean the ugly truth.

You see, it appears that Nick Alioto is looking for work. Apparently he’s had his Road to Damascus epiphany and realizes that his future at SWC is as shiny as a gallon of Mississippi Mud. But while he’s still got his job, he’s looking to find another.

And he’s afraid that the ugly truth is going to make it hard to get another cushy job where he can move piles of money from one place to another. Apparently he’d like it if I made it possible for him to find that cushy job by taking down all the blog posts and links I have up.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but I don’t want Nick Alioto to get that cushy job.

So here are a few things you prospective employers might want to read:

"“Sun” Newspaper Earns More National Kudos; Raj and the Governing Board Still Hate It" [SWC Board Must Go]

"The Human Chord: November Elections Call for Change" [Southwestern College Sun]

"Why You Should Come to Wednesday’s Governing Board Meeting" [SWC Board Must Go]

Besides a chance to gather up these tasty links and repost them for all to see, my reason for this post is simple: I want to spare some other school district the pain that Southwestern College went through.

I have been told by two separate governing board members (one of whom is now an ex-board member) that Alioto was presented to the board to vote on by member Yolanda Salcido - who said he was good for the job. They did no background check on him. (I suppose it's possible that they did, and they were even worse judges of character than anyone considered.)

Out of curiosity, I did the research that found the information on his Wisconsin shenanigans. On Google. In about three minutes.

I hope that whoever is considering hiring him reads this, follows the links, and thanks their lucky stars that they're able to take a pass on him.

And if some board member or upper-level administrator does choose to hire him, this post will remain in cyberspace for eternity, as proof that they chose to ignore the warnings.

With the right blogger or researcher opposing you, it can cost you dearly; trust me on that.

I have a few more posts from an earlier version of SWC Board Must Go that are currently inaccessible. As soon as I can get them up, I'll post those links, too. And if and when Alioto is indicted for his shady actions, I'll be sure and post that, too.

You're welcome.

  4. How did the vote go at SWC in November?
    Were they voted out?

  5. We got two out of our three candidates in - enough for a 3-2 majority. And since tonight was the *first* GB meeting of the new board, we can tell it will go well. Superintedent Raj Chopra resigned on November 30, and by all accounts, Nick Alioto is hanging on by his fingertips, hoping someone gives him an out before the indictments start to fall like snow...

  6. In Tigerton the DPI was coming to investigate, but by law has to give the school a 90 day notice. He was gone in less than 90 days and the DPI never came, so then he is able to go on and ruin other peoples lives........ SOMEHOW, he needs to be stopped.

  7. I don't know how seriously to take this... but we are hearing very vague rumors (through good sources) that the district attorney is asking a LOT of questions about him, the former superintendent, and a former board member.

If Nick Alioto had any brains at all, he'd run to the DA and pimp out every bit of dirt he's got on the others, to avoid prison.

But I'm afraid he's actually not that smart.

  8. Keep us Wisconites up on what is happening.

  9. Believe or not but Colorado State University - Pueblo has just hired this guy as a "consultant."

  10. It appears that someone at CSU Pueblo has started digging around. As of a day or two ago, I started getting multiple hits from Pueblo, CO - from very different systems at very different times.

Perhaps CSU Pueblo will realize what a terrible idea this was, and move to make sure it doesn't happen.

  11. CSU-Pueblo has a relationship with Nick Alioto. He works for Michael Farley the Director of Budgets 719-549-2330. Need some press to get him out of CSU-Pueblo.

  12. Yes, there are some CSU-Pueblo people concerned that Alioto has uncovered that their Controller is busy viewing porn during work instead of watching their receivables grow to millions. Or maybe they are concerned that he caught them trying to pocket refunds owed to hundreds of students and reported them for it?

  13. I'm not sure who is speaking here, but it's pretty clear that there are least two different "Anonymous"es here. One wants to run him out of Pueblo and the other thinks he's done a good job looking over CSUP's books.

I don't mind taking a look at things, but I'd SURE appreciate it that if someone actually wanted me to know something, they'd take the trouble to send me a direct email or find me on Facebook and message me. I'm the only one of my name there - easy to find. And my email is listed on this page.

I'm going to need a little more than soft tips, folks.

  14. Nickolas, Mr. Alioto has resurfaced in the Mid West working for a company out of Indiana called Performance Services but covering Wisconsin accounts. I did see that he was indicted in California for his "work" at Southwestern College. I have not been able to find out how he got off from the charges. Can you spread some light on the rest of the story?

  15. Mr. Alioto hasn't gotten off. The charges have not been dismissed. He is still under indictment for 15 criminal counts, including some felony charges. ("15" is off the top of my head. If I've got the wrong number, I'll change it.)

The trial date for him and the other administrators and board members of three different school districts here (Southwestern College, Sweetwater Union High School District, and San Ysidro School District) doesn't start until February 2014.
